This device comes with the backup software built-in. It also includes a free upgrade to WD SmartWare Pro for 3 PCs. This allows you to back your Dropbox directly to your hard drive, your hard drive directly to your Dropbox, or schedule automatic backups. Windows comes with automatic backup software, however, though it might not fit your needs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No CDs needed. Software is on the device itself and updates are downloaded from the Internet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This drive has all the associate software on the actual drive from the factory...no downloads needed...goodluck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The auto backup feature is included right on the drive. You need to plug in the unit and then install the WD Smartware setup. Once you have installed the software then you decide what you want to backup and when and it will do it automatically.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. You plug it into your USB port on your computer. You can then save items to it as a backup.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The software is on the drive. Customer service emailed me a link to another software backup because I was having some issues with the included software so I believe you could get it that way as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The WD back up software comes preinstalled on the drive and it will ask you if you want to install and use it when you first plug it in. If you choose not to use it you can just delete if all form the drive. I just reformatted the drive right out of the box so I could use the Time Machine feature built into the mac OS and not have to add more software to my Mac.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can download this software from this site: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=223&lang=en
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Software is found on the drive itself, and can also be downloaded from WD's website. Additionally, backup software tends to be included with operating systems. Macs have Time Machine, Windows has File History (or Backup and Restore for versions older than 8), both of which work pretty well, and it's easy to find for Linux, though there are too many varieties to mention here.
