“With this External hard drive what is the cloud backup for? Do I have to pay monthly for the cloud backup?”

• Personally, I don't trust backup that I don't have absolute control over. I have lost cloud backup in the past. Also, if it is on a public platform, it is available to others. I do high level security work and must keep my work separate and secure.

• no cloud---just buy the item and backup everything on it. I love mine and it was very easy to use.
