While casually strolling through Best Buy I visited the external hard drive selection. I wasn't in the market for one, but this itsy bitsy drive caught my eye. All of my devices have backups either in physical drives or in the cloud. However, I had recently reset my Playstation 4 and found that the backup I had for it could not be used (this is a good time to remind everyone to have a physical AND a cloud backup as I was able to retrieve from one when the other failed). It was an aging WD MyBook that was clunky and difficult to connect to power and to the PS4 to do backups on a regular basis (folks, do backups on a regular basis). When I saw this tiny, shiny, metallic, bus powered with the same storage as the internal drive of my PS4 at an acceptable price, I bought it. Formatting the drive for the PS4 was beyond a headache which I won't detail because I think it has more to do with Sony and less with the drive. The drive itself was easily compatible with Mac or PC and was speedy. The bus easily gave it the power it needed. When I got it to a format the PS4 accepted I backed up my system with no hiccups whatsoever. Beyond using it for this purpose, I haven't explored any offered deals from WD included on the drive. I personally wipe whatever software is included on any external drive for I have never needed any of it (also, most of my work is on a Mac and this software rarely is compatible). But as a standalone drive; usefulness, size, price, design were all put into a really nice package that I can't help but suggest if you want a simple solution or need an external to travel with. Well done, Western Digital.

Picked one of these up a couple months back to make a backup. The drive is pretty quick, but it's not really about speed as much as storage capacity. it competes with every storage drive in the category. For day to day file backup's this drive is well more than sufficient and should suit anyone's needs.

Drive has a lot of storage, price was great and can't beat the shipping cost! Works as described and transfers are fast on the USB 3.0 Purchased a new computer with an SSD drive and I use this for all my picture and document storage. Great purchase.

Very good portable hard drive offered by BestBuy and purchased at a reduced price. I like this drive and have had absolutely no problems with it at all. I've connected it to my wireless router USB 3.0 port for quick wireless network access to my music, photos, and data backup capabilities. No wires needed now to connect to this data or to be able to backup my my laptop data and other wireless devices. Cool stuff at a very good price.

With Microsoft providing so small of a hard drive in the system and having to download/store your games on the system , it became a great need to have extra storage. This Passport was reasonably priced and easy to use. Its powered as USB and all you have to do is plug it in and format it for XBox. The ability to take it with you is great for my son as he splits time between me and his mom.

It is a very useful external HD and very easy to use just plug it in and that's it additionally is beautiful in color and design.

As soon as I heard that the PS4 would now take an external drive I started doing online research and this great little WD 2 T was the result. It is the best on the market. Just the right size and looks good on my shelf next to the PS4. Runs fast no matter how intensive the game play and is very dependable. I use it as my default drive. Love this drive.

excellent removable storage. Ive been using one for my playstation4 for well over a year now. It adds 2 Terbytes to the paltry 500gb I started with. im not even a huge gamer maybe play an hour a week 3 hours tops. and my wd 2tb is halfway full. i also use one to backup videos i shoot with my phantom 3, and keep my pc backed up. works great on all 3 fronts. i own several WD passport style hdds the metal ones are the most durable and prettiest by far

Not much to say. It's a 2TB USB 3.0 external hard drive. It runs like a champ and does what it's supposed to do. I use it to backup personal files about once a week. I did buy a longer USB 3.0 cable. And I found out that not all cables are made the same. The first cable I bought would not run at USB 3.0 speeds and I had to buy a second. The cable that comes with the drive is perfectly okay it's just not long enough when connecting to a full tower case with USB ports at the top.

I feel fortunate that I purchased the metal edition of this product .not only does it perform as great as any of the previous passports I have purchased through best buy,but I have a level of comfort knowing it is well protected in a metal case. It has already taken a fall from my desktop onto the steel register and hasn't even gt a blemish.thank you for continuing to make a well built product and at 2 terabytes it should not be filled anytime soon.

Lots of storage, nice aluminum finish, got it on sale.

Ok yes. I like shiny. This little guy is sexy, fast, and solid. WD has a great track record, so I am expecting longevity. Being ultra portable and having usb 3.0; pairs nicely with my brushed aluminum notebook.

I needed a large capacity external storage device that wasn't "cloud-oriented." I needed something I could plug in to my project laptop and store large files with ease and speed of access. I previously purchased a My Passport 512gig external drive and was pleased, so I decided to purchase the My Passport Ultra Metal edition 2tb device. I work with large engineering models and needed something with the caoacity to store them. This is it! I'm a fan of My Passport and Western Digital. I'm also a previous purchaser of the My Book from WD.

These WD My Passport HD's are great in size and portability, plus having USB 3.0 makes them a fast external drive as well. You can carry all of your files, pictures and shows with you.

Nice small and compact. I need a hard drive for my ps4 pro. Easy to hook up and a enough space to transfer my games. And still have enough space for more on my 2tb harddrive

Works great. Western Digital is the new standard for backup drives. Seagate used to be the best, but they have not been able to work out the glitches with their devices and windows 8.1. I switched to WD after 2 Seagates failed with 2 different windows 8 computers. WD's all working fine with no errors.

I'm pleased with My Passport Ultra Metal Edition. I needed an external backup device for my computer and found that this one fits my needs perfectly. It has plenty of storage...probably more than I'll ever use. Very easy to use, and I love that I can transfer information to another computer using this device as well. I would highly recommend this data protection device to anyone who wants to secure their information in another manner; just in case your main device (computer, tablets, etc.) crashes or has some type of unforeseen problems.

I needed an external HD for more storage and for taking it with me when I travel. This has been great. It's got fast access, nice metal jacket on it so it can bounce around in my bag when I travel with no issues.
