• Yes you can, but generally it is recommended that you place the outside antenna on the roof of your home in order to reach the best signal. Buildings or terrain like hills and mountains can limit the signal strength, so height can help the antenna obtain a better signal.

• I started mine on exactly that setup and it worked ok. When I got a ladder I mounted it higher on my cabin for less obstructed reception
