Hi, I'm going to do my best to answer your question, however I haven't configured a rule like this yet. Setting up a laundry alert should be possible, but I caution you the max load these switches are rated is 15 amps on a 120v appliance. Double check your washer runs below that. Once your device is on the WiFi and set up you can build a "rule". You can tell WeMo to alert you when power is sensed on, off, or on for an extended period of time. There is an article titled " How to use the belkin WeMo insight switch to monitor power usage" on a website called HowToGeek. I reference and trust this source frequently. It explains setting up this rule with graphics. Step, by, step. You can configure a rule to warn you about an extended period of TV time on a daily basis as well.
