• Hi, HouseFanGuy. The Wemo Light Switch has only been tested to work with light bulbs, thus we can't guarantee that it'll work with a fan.

• If the fan runs off of a normal switch I don’t know why it want it as long as it’s not a three-way switch. I have a switch attached to a normal fan and it works well.

• If your talking about the ac fan no you will need an actual smart thermostat. If you are talking about a ceiling fan yes it will work but me i prefer to use the dimmer switches then you can set the fan on hi and adjust the speed through the app.
