“On Westinghouse WD32HKB1001 tv dvd combo, after playing a DVD, when I switch back to TV, I have to go through the entire channel setup again. Any way around that? Maybe I missed something in in the initial setup process.”

I think you didn't setup correctly. My cable provider setup my TV when I got my HD cable box. I haven't experienced any problems whatever.
