You could "theoretically" use it as a monitor. As you will be loading millions of pixels though do keep in mind playing games on such a Tv will be extremely steinuous. (if that was you rintent). Better your graphics card better this could be used for such a thing basically. I use a 50 inch television myself as well but for generic browsing and such due to my visual impairments. This can be a great use for a monitor. You may need to either in your graphic settings on your computer or on the Tv itself change the oversampling (TV) or the screen overlay setting (PC)

Please try again later.You can use it as a monitor but you would probably be better off using the HDMI port, you probably would need to get a video card to do that as most computers can't support a 4k tv resolution. (GTX1050 video card would work, thats what I use) if you use the vga port you will have a much lower resolution resulting in everything being very large, it would work but sort of defeat the purpose of having a tv that is 4k.
