QuestionI have a corner cabinet and a corner cooktop. Can this unit be installed by attaching to the bottom of the cabinet only? Since it is in a corner, there is no back wall. I will want to replace the existing vent hood with this microwave.

QuestionDoes this get installed by hanging from the cabinet above (through-bolts), by attaching to the back wall (cantilevered), or is it an option to do one or the other (or both) ?

- Answer The instructions say you must do both (cabinet and back wall). I would highly recommend you do it that way. It is easy, 3-4 screws to the wall and 2 to the cabinet.

QuestionThe microwave is locked. Everything I read says to hold stop/cancel button 3 sec to unlock, but none of the buttons on the outside will work. The ones on the inside do, the clock is working, but no outside buttons and it does show locked.

- Answer Hello TB! Activate to avoid unintended start. Touch and hold the Cancel keypad for about 3 seconds until 2 tones sound and the CONTROL LOCKED appears in the display. When locked, touching any button on the keyboard (except for the hood control buttons and Cancel) will not work. Repeat to unlock control. Please press and hold the X down for 3/4 seconds. This will take the lock off. Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.

- Answer I tried this yesterday before seeing your answer just in case it worked on mine and after pressing the "Clock" button repeatedly, it did not show any "sub menus". It just kept flashing the little clock symbol over the actual time. Am I doing it correctly? I won't be back there until Monday.

QuestionWhirlpool owns Kitchenaid, and the Whirlpool - 1.1 Cu Ft Low Profile seems identical to the Kitchenaid 1.1 Cu Ft Low Profile. The Whirlpool exhaust fan is rated at 400 CFM and the Kitchenaid exhaust fan at 500 CFM. Can you explain the difference?

QuestionThe volume on my YWML55011HS is too loud and I would. Like to turn it off. How do I do this? I have read that I push the clock button till I reach the correct setting but that doesn’t work. Can you send me the correct procedure. Thanks

- Answer Hi RC, for this Whirlpool - 1.1 Cu. Ft. Low Profile Over-the-Range Microwave Hood Combination Keypad tones and volume can be adjusted. Press CLOCK to reach the Sound submenu. 1. Button Tones On and Off: Press 1-On 2-Off 2. Volume: Press 1-Low, 2-Med, 3-High Pressing the Start keypad, pressing the CLOCK keypad will save.
