A:AnswerYes if you are thinking an 11 inch p[late is a full-size plate. The microwave is as deep as most the others it just does not have the height inside that most others have inside, like a bowl that is maybe 7 inches tall may not fit inside.

A:AnswerWe too did not want to cut the tile (backsplash) out. However our situation may be different from yours. Our backsplash ended about 2" above where the new hood would sit so we just filled in the area above it with a wood backing to make the installation wall essentially flat. The new microwave fit perfectly and we didn't have to cut any of the backsplash out - see picture.
