“The installers put this in my closet yesterday - replacing an existing stackable unit. However, they said it needs 6 inches in the back to vent, so now it sticks out into my hallway 1 1/2 inches and I can't re-install/close the door. Is that correct?”

SorasMom- Yes, there needs to be a gap in order for the venting to have room. If pushed back to far, it can shut down the air flow.
