“I’m thinking of getting this unit to replace an old GE microwave. Does it need to be vented to the outside? My current unit is an over the range model, however it isn’t over my stovetop so no vent was needed.”

As with most current model OTR Microwaves, this one comes configured to work without an external vent. The air from the fan comes out the top of the unit in front of the cabinet it is mounted to and goes almost straight up. It can be modified to vent up in the back to a roof vent or to the back for a wall vent.
