“I understand the body size of the oven is 17 1/8” but can anyone tell me what the wall plate height dimension measures since I have a mounting opening for the backplate that is only 16.5” due to wall tile. Thanks”

The mounting plate is a standard 17 1/4 inch from the top. you can screw the plate through the tiles but will have to add a spacer above the tiles which is the same thickness as the tiles.
