Q: QuestionIs this a freezer? When the ice is made, will it sit there or will it melt as if in a cooler?

• A:Answer It is not a freezer, the compartment is not refrigerated. Because the ice is cut into squares by a heated wire grid the ice would freeze into a clump if it was refrigerated. So it is basically melting constantly

• A:Answer I don't know about whirlpools answer but, model# WUI95X15HZ, does have a drain pump. This is the 50lb Ice maker.
