There is a rather extensive booklet that comes with it so I'm sure if you read that it will tell you where you're going wrong especially if you don't have those numbers on the bottom of the left top door when you open and close it. I actually lowered mine to 36 because I felt that it needed to be cooler in the refrigerator section.
