The exhaust fan is much quieter than the fan on my old microwave, which I hated to use because it was so loud. The fan has 4 speeds; I can barely hear low at all, it is so low, in fact, I wasn't sure it was running until I turned it off. (I wasn't actually using it at the time, only testing it for this question.) The fan also works much better than my old one did, even on the lower speeds. You can see the steam being pulled up into it.
