Not a problem. When door is shut, the edge is flush with the cabinet. When door is open, the hinge is on the inside and the edge of the door is approximately 1/2 inch from the left cabinet. The door opens to about 85 degrees, this restricts the handle on microwave from hitting left wall. This unit deeper and taller then my old one. Because the burners are gas, there is less clearance on cooking with tall pots on back burners. I new this when I made the purchase. Note- comes with a turntable and wire rack for two levels of cooking. Instructions say to not cook with wire rack if not using it. Reference pictures, door closed and door open

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, the door hinge does not make it any wider since it's flush within the door. So, you don't even see a hinge on the outside. I held a piece of cardboard up next to my newly installed Whirlpool microwave as if it were your wall. Didn't see that it would be a problem. It opened seamlessly. My advice is to measure carefully and also to visit your Best Buy store, if you can, and look at the floor model. That way you'll be satisfied first hand. Take a piece of cardboard with you to act as your wall. Be sure you look at the handle which slopes out from the microwave, also. Even though that adds about an inch, I don't see that it impedes the range the door can be opened. As to this microwave---it's really wonderful! I liked our existing old microwave and tried to have it repaired (needed new magnitron-expensive) because I didn't think I'd be as satisfied with a replacement. Wrong! This one has an easy to clean interior, 4-speed fan, and many other very useful settings. The steam sensor to cook veggies, fresh or frozen, is awesome. Although this new microwave has a 2.1 interior vs. the old 1.7, the exterior measurements were the same. The Best Buy installers had it installed in 10 minutes. They were able to use the existing bracket and didn't need to drill new holes in the cabinet above. It all fit perfectly. Love the new microwave, had it delivered directly to the house (weighs about 70 lbs.). We got a great sales price and free delivery. May you be as happy a customer as I am.
