“we just have a blank(inside) wall over our stove. we desperately need to vent our kitchen. will this unit look strange simply attached to the blank wall above stove and how far down on the wall (above the stove) could/should it be placed?”

this microwave isn't designed to be mounted without a cabinet above. it has a bracket (included) that the bottom of the microwave clips onto, but it also has two bolts that go through the cabinet above, you would have to figure out some kind of bracket to mount it to. It needs to be about 15" minimum above the stove.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You cannot install this unit in the fashion that you are suggesting. The installation requires a cabinet directly above the unit. In fact, the unit is secured to the cabinet on top of it with 2 bolts that go directly through the bottom of the cabinet and into the top of the micorwave. If you want to have a free-standing microwave oven above your stove, you can purchase a vented microwave shelf, whereby the shelf itself has the ventilation go through it, and standard countertop microwave simply sets in the shelf. There are not always that easy to find though.
