be careful, as the unit will be rather heavy if filled with ice. the manufacturer recommends running about 3 loads of ice through the machine to cleanse it out thoroughly. we also used the cube and chip dispenser functions to further clean it out. when you replace the unit, be careful to view where the copper lever is, so it fits (clicks) back into the proper place and doesn't get bent accidentally.
