“How well would this refrigerator work in a garage? I know some GEs say "garage ready," but I'm not sure if that's something special or just a marketing ploy . . . Thanks!”

This is a great fridge, but because it only has one thermostat, in cold ambient temperatures, the freezer will not maintain a low temp, and the food melts. Not a good unit for garages with low ambient temps.

The preferred room temperature range for optimum performance, which reduces electricity usage and provides superior cooling, is between 60°F (15°C) and 90°F (32°C). Please try again later.I would only put this refrigerator in a really nice garage where it would not get damaged, otherwise this model is just too gorgeous to be garage kept. The wheels make it easy to move around, the lighting inside is fantastic, and the storage space on both sides is great! You can’t go wrong buying this model. Whirlpool has been around 100 years and the beauty of their products show. I’ve only had mine about 2 weeks, but fell in love once we unwrapped it and got it in the house.
