We emptied the full ice container when full before using and emptied a gallon of water before drinking.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Upon original installation, it was 2 gallons and 2 buckets of ice. I think the filter replacement is usually 2 gallons and I would do 1 ice "run" not bucket. The line going to the ice maker can't hold much water. Good idea you have there! It's terrible to have to do it at all with all of the water shortages!

This activates the filter and clears the refrigerator lines of any air bubbles that can interfere with the flow of dispensing. We recommend saving the dispensed water for watering house plants. We recommend replacing the filter every 6 months (or 200 gallons). We have found that an average household will deplete the 200 gallon capacity in about 6 months time. Contaminant reduction declines after exceeding 200 gallons even though the taste might not immediately change. We hope this helps.
