I am confused by the use of 2X, 4X, 10X, etc and I also have a water softener. I am using liquid Tide and have started with the 2X setting. So far my close are clean and no evidence of excess detergent.

Please try again later.If you have hard water and are utilizing a softener that is supplying the water into the unit, you should be able to use normal settings, however if not and you suspect hard water or are getting poor results, utilize the suggestions for "hard water" beginning on page 29 of the Owner's Manual.
