“Does the door open down or to the side? This is the only thing that bugs us about the Whirlpool Duet Washer. Since the door opens to the side it is difficult to get clothes out without them falling on the floor. I do not want a dryer unless the door opens downward, allowing the clothes to rest there while you hang them up.”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The door for this particular Whirlpool dryer does open to the side. It has a reversible door hinge, so it can open either to the left or to the right. We do carry a few dryers where the door opens down, and I have included a couple of them. I hope that helps!
