• I needed the same filter and looked at Different replacements that superseded that number did research on the history and it wasn't very good a lot of them did not fit and leaked . Best Buy had the original one it still works perfect I am going to continue to purchase them from Best Buy and not fool around with a generic one .

• I have a Kenmore that's also almost 20 yrs old & I believe I had the same filter # 8171413. I replaced it with this filter from Best Buy (as Lowe's did not carry that filter anymore) & this filter fit perfectly.
