When you buy a Whoop, the first 12 months are prepaid by the purchaser. The device is not "free." The prompt asking for a credit card is standard: It is for Auto-Renewal. Whoop requires a payment method on file to automatically continue the membership after the initial 12-month prepaid period ends. You Won't Be Charged Immediately. The recipient should not be charged anything until 12 months after activation. The recipient needs to check their account details within the app to confirm the "Next Billing Date" is 12 months away. If the app says a charge is coming in one month, the gift setup may have failed, and they should immediately contact Whoop Support.
