Is this machine noisy? null

To me it is not noisy. I have it right next to my bed, about 5 feet from my face, aiming directly at me, and I sleep like a baby.

Firstly let me say that I LOVE this machine! My 1 bedroom apartment is about 500sq ft...I have the unit in my open concept living room/kitchen where my TV is also located. The unit is extremely loud when the compressor is engaged (in that specific area)...I can not talk on the phone nor hear my TV without having to wear ear phones for both (keep in mind this is a very small area) My bedroom is just steps away from that and I have to really listen hard to hear if the unit is running, so my sleep is peacefully quiet. I live in Ottawa Ontario and this summer we had weeks of the humidity being in the mid to high 40's (celsius) this unit had handled it like a champ...never once did I need to drain any water from the unit. Bravo Whynter...love this Unit

This unit is very quiet and is one of the quietest portable units I have tried.

It is louder than what I had expected. The bad thing is that it doesn't quiet down at lower speed settings.
