• A:Answer No, I use tap water, but one thing with tap water is that if you live in a area that has a high content of calcium and other additives in youre water, it builds up in the bottom of the unit.

• A:Answer This unit does not need a filter. This humidifier is an ultrasonic model which does not require a filter to function. Unless you are talking about the demineralization capsules, then yes it does have that type of "filter"

• A:Answer You can achieve a very high humidity with this unit as it has a setting to leave the unit misting constantly. If you do not want to leave the unit misting constantly, your other options range from 40% to 60% humidity. Once it reaches that target humidity, the unit will stop misting.
