Helps a bit and depends on your allergy.
Somewhat helped my allergy but not a cure all.
Finding out what allergy you may have is more important than depending on an air cleaner.
But it’s only intended to be a supplement to therapy.

As for virus and bacterium, that’s a coin toss for a portable unit. 
Achieving air quality is a science left for higher performing medically tuned devices.
