You don't actually have to touch their forehead with the device. It will work maybe an inch or two away?

Please try again later.You have to be in front of them or right next to the person you’re reading, since you have to scan the forehead from the middle towards the left side of the subject. The instructions says it’s designed to read the temperature of the arteries in the forehead. The instrument should be half an inch to 1 inch from the forehead’s surface, so It’s a non-contact thermometer. At this range the readings are highly accurate. Most infrared thermometers are about 1 to 2 degrees off. This one is by 0.2 degrees.
