No. I just set it on a table near the area I wanted to monitor. The area was about 3 feet away and below the level of the table. The cord had to run along the floor to reach an electrical outlet, so if anyone was walking by and caught the cord with a foot, I guess they could have knocked the camera off the table or unplugged it. It isn’t an area where people walk around a lot, and only my cat was home most of the time while I was on vacation, so it wasn’t a problem. As long as you have a stable surface and a nearby outlet, it does not have to be mounted.

Just like with the Wyze Cam v2, the v3 includes a magnet in its base that allows it to be mounted to steel or iron surfaces. To help create more opportunities for this we included a metal plate with an adhesive backing just like we did with the v2. If you want a more secure mount, using the included screw kit can help make sure the Wyze Cam v3 has a solid connection with whatever surface you mount it to.
