It does run on a loop system and will keep the recording till it is recorded over. It would depend on how much recording you do. The thing I like is if your vehicle is bumped the camera will save the footage of the area 15 seconds before the bump and also verbal recordings outside and inside the vehicle. It does not save any recordings unless the vehicle is hit/bumped. At least that was what I was told by the installer. You can capture the data audio and video to use in court. I have an SUV and the camera is mounted back from the rear glass it looks good and is hard to see the unit. It would be best to have it installed by them unless you have some time and skill to make it look good in the vehicle.

The overwriting cycle depends on the size of the memory card capacity. With the X500, the maximum microSD card capacity is 64 GB which allows approximately 8 hours of recording before overwriting. The X500 does not have a lock function but incident recordings are stored in a separate folder on the microSD to lower the possibility of overwriting important footage. Instructions on how to mount the X500 is included with the dash cam but it is also available in our online user manual from our website here: http://www.thinkware.com/Support/Download. We hope this helps! Please let us know if you have additional questions by phone (1-844-865-9273) or email ([email protected]). Thinkware Customer Support
