Both power connection are required for the card to work at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The other answer is exactly correct. Both power plugs are needed regardless of the number of monitors you're using. If you think you can reduce that top end 263 watt power draw, you're incorrect.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not 100% sure but from my experience, you need all power connections to the GPU in order for the card to run properly, no matter the number of monitors you plan to hookup. Both 8 pin connectors need to be hookup to your PSU.
