Yes as long as the impedance is 6 or 8 ohms

I currently use a pair of Bose 301s and 161s as my surround and back speakers with my Yamaha AVR and they work just fine. However, Bose model "901s" can pose a big problem useless you have the necessary connection configuration found on higher end AVRs--I know this because own a pair. I have owned two (2) previous Yamaha AVRs since 2008 that would not work with my 901s. The reason you cannot use 901s is because the speakers require use of the matching "Bose Active Equalizer" that is necessary to 'power' (push) the speakers. The best I can explain it is that any Receiver or Amplifier used with the speaker must have a PREAMP-OUT / MAIN AMP-IN connection or a TAPE MONITOR LOOP in order to connect the Active Equalizer (you can always get expert guidance on what I'm trying to say on the internet). The bottom line is that if you have 901s, you would better be served upgrading to some other speaker system. I love my 901s but definitely would not recommend them for AVR systems. I use a separate STEREO AMP and PRE-AMP with my 901s for playing jazz music exclusively. As stated, the Bose 301 and 161 speakers I have connected to my AVR system work just fine. Hope this helps.
