• I had the same question. I use DirectTV. I have speakers in two separate rooms and have an additional Aiwa receiver for the 2nd room. I was able to use the HDMI from the DirectTV box into the Yamaha receiver which is wired to the speakers in the primary room. Then I connected a digital optical cable from the DirectTV box to the Aiwa receiver which is wired to the speakers in the 2nd room. I can control each room separately with the volume of whatever I've selected with DirectTV.
