Technically yes. There is a NON-surround option (that can be programmed to the colored buttons on the remote) that switches to 2-channel or 5-channel Stereo. So, if you're not using a surround setup in the living room, just 2 speakers in one room and 2 more in the other, you could connect the living room to the 'front' speaker terminals & the kitchen to the 'rear' terminals, and they'd all run on the 5CH setting but only the living room would run on the 2CH setting.
