Yes, it does, to an extent. The volume shows up in the lower right corner, and the input selected shows up in the upper right screen for a few seconds. But if you are using the remote, you can see the buttons you press, so I a, not sure why you want an on screen controller. It also supports apps for phones and tablets, which work very well, and may be closer to what you want.
