No, you have to manually turn it on and off from a button in the back of the subwoofer.

This unit incorporates a switch for on / off. I have my sub's power cord hooked up to my "switched" Panamax surge protector so that when I power it off, the subwoofer turns off. Otherwise you must manually turn it off via the switch. These is a little green lamp that is on (the back of the unit), to indicate whether the unit is on or off.

No it is not. However, I do believe there is a sleep like mode as when it is not active for a while it takes a second for the sub sound to kick back in.

No...only a manual on/off button in the back.. The ON..LED indicator light is also locate in the back.. Should have been mounted in the front...

power remains on after turning off the receiver,I have another sub woofer on my main theater system that does the same.Never had a problem -just stays on.

There is a power switch that will turn it to "off", which I usually forget to use. Leaving it on and inactive hasn't had an obvious effect on my power bill. May reduce the life of the product, long term, but I don't know that, for sure, just a cautionary for you.

Yes, it hooks directly to the TV and comes on/goes off with the TV and is only compatible with a couple of Sony TV models, so double check compatibility as well before purchasing.
