Customers enjoy the 8" 100-Watt Powered Subwoofer's excellent sound quality and deep bass, finding it surprisingly good for its size and price. Many appreciate its ease of setup and compact design, perfect for smaller spaces. A minor drawback mentioned by some users is the placement of the volume control.

4.1 stereo w/ energy esw-c10 sub. wanted to add a bit of punch so ordered this yamaha expecting a little bonus-bass. WOW! this thing adds a PUNCH-between 40-110 hz. exactly what the dr. ordered for deep bass ...and accurate too. small ,unassuming...but highly recommended!!!

What a excellent subwoofer. Excellent bass for watching TV, listening to music and watching movies. Makes you feel just like you at the movies. Easy setup the price fitted my budget perfectly. Hooked this up to my Soundbar along with my digital optical cable and have no complaints. It's a keeper. You won't be disappointed.

I got this on sale for around $89. I hooked it up to my soundbar and it sounds great. Too much base for my living room when cranked up all the way. I wouldn't say I can feel the bass shaking my couch when I'm watching a movie, but its loud and I feel it has minimal distortion. If you're looking for a great audio experience on a budget you can't go wrong with this one. The knob on the back to adjust volume was a must have for me so I could match it how I wanted with my soundbar. I usually never go past half volume on the subwoofer or its too much.

This nineteen pound dynamite package of sound delivers Yamaha's bass resonator system that works, as I understand it, by increasing--via sound wave excitation--in the subwoofer's enclosure, the amplitude of sound and directing this sound to your environment all in concert via the amp's negative impedance value to hit those low notes (down to 28 Hz) for those heart thumping moments of film and audio.
An 8-inch front speaker with a side firing port delivers those finer auditory moments without distortion. What this means is that this almost perfect 12 inch square package, will add range and a feeling of "Oomph" to whatever source you are listening to--this is so important!
A one hundred watt amplifier is integrated within the subwoofer. Oh! and this unit is magnetically shielded so it won't mess with other system components. What a value in a small form. A tremendous over all value as well.

I have a pair of SpeakerCraft AIM7 ceiling speakers in my 12' x 13' den. They sound quite good, but as is the case with most ceiling speakers, they don't provide much bass. I wanted a small subwoofer, on a small budget, to provide the missing lower frequencies while also "filling" the room with sound. I was a little nervous when I first saw this Yamaha sub at such a low price. But, after reading the consistently good reviews on the various web sites, I placed the order. I've now been listening to it for several weeks, and I definitely agree with the other positive reviewers. This isn't a sub for driving your movie theater system in a large room, but it suffices perfectly for listening to music in smaller rooms. It sounds dynamic, not boomy or mushy. Overall, it's a great product considering its $100 price range.

I purchased this subwoofer to go with my Yamaha RX-V675 receiver. Great sound and fills my room with the lows that I was missing. It would be nice if this unit had the ability to be powered on when my receiver came on instead of having a manual on/off button.

Great starter woofer for just about any HT set up. I would have gone with 5 stars if there was a way to adjust the volume of the woofer wirelessly, but alas there is not. Nonetheless the sound quality and depth that comes out of this woofer is great! I have our DT (dorm theater) set up as 3.1 channels using a Sony DT850 and all 8 of us enjoy movie night and binge nights even more. Great price for what you get! (I favor Yamaha products over others just an FYI)

This Yamaha 8" sub woofer has totally met my expectations..
The sound is very deep but not overwhelming......the mid range bass
is very crisp as are the high and lows....the level control knob in the back is a nice feature...
Would like to have seen the green led "ON LIGHT" mounted in the front
of the unit....otherwise very pleased with the unit overall.
Great bang for the buck..
Would highly recommend it to a friend..

Exactly What I Expected

I purchased this subwoofer after reading the reviews and got exactly what I expected. I was replacing a subwoofer from a surround sound system that stopped working and it was all silver in color. After reading the reviews I knew this subwoofer was black with silver cones. It has a power button and volume knob and connects with a supplied subwoofer cable and attached power cord. I just leave the power button on and the volume is set to surround system optimal setting. I am not a technical guru, but this subwoofer for the price and capabilities are a perfect fit for me.

This sub- woofer has a great sound and was very easy to attach to the sound bar I had already brought from the Best Buy store. I just wish the sub woofer had a re-mote control so you could turn it off and on after the movie ends. However, I enjoy it very much!!!!

This is one of the smaller subs you can get, but the sound is great. My dad just needed something simple for his home theater and I have a long history with Yamaha subs. Always work great and sound great. For the money, I think this is one of the better basic 8" subwoofers available. Nothing fancy, just works and is 100-watt vs 80-watt

I considered spending twice the money on a larger sub or brand name with a better reputation, but went with the budget friendly option and I'm very happy I did. This sub sounds great and rumbles the entire house if I want it to. This is my second 8" Yamaha sub and I've owned the first one for 12 years without any issue. I hope this one last as long and that they both last another 10-15 years; but if they don't, I won't feel bad because the price is right.

This works really well for my needs, especially for the price... honestly, it shakes the entire living room in my small house... For a bigger space, you'd probably be better served spending a bit more and getting something higher end, but you can definitely use this one to irritate the neighbors ;)

The Yamaha subwoofer is one of the best units I have ever owned. It is not overbearing and provides the right amount to enhance any media experience from plain listening to music, up to and including Blu-Ray and regular TV viewing. It truly enhances the overall home theater environment! It's definitely a keeper!
