It can. I set them up in 5.1 quite often

No, you run 5.1, 7.1, 9.1. It works wonderful and the quality is great! My only gripe was that I had a weakening capacitor and even after being sent out to repair, it has never been of the same initial quality. But as far as sound, it delivers nicely
