No, it’s not possible to select only the instrumental or the vocal portion of the track, since a “split-track CD” is a regular CD that can be played in any CD player but has the vocals on one channel and the instrumental accompaniment on the other channel. To hear only the instrumental part, you will need detachable speakers to just unplug the speaker channel that you don’t want to hear.
