I'm curious in regards to the way this question was answered. On the back of the unit is a switch to allow selection of "phono eq" or "thru." That would indicate the presence of a pre-amp, and also allow direct connection to powered speakers. Is this correct? Thanks.

Please try again later.To do this, you'd need a powered speaker (Klipsch III for example) with a phono pre-amp built in, or a separate phono pre-amp between the turntable and speaker. So, yes it can be done, but this turntable is not designed specifically to work with speaker(s).
