Q: QuestionHi I'm studying this turntable and I note that it has a pre amp. With my old turn table I needed to have a separate in line pre amp to get it to work with my old receiver. Will I still need the old pre Amp?

• A:Answer Kind of a late response, but no. You don't need one. However, if the phono preamp that you currently have is better, you can use that instead of this one. You would hook it up and then just make sure to select "thru" on the back of this turntable (others might say "line" if you are looking at other turntables).

Q: QuestionMy receiver doesn't have a separate connection for turntable. Can it be plugged in to cd player input?

• A:Answer Yes, You can hook up the RCA cable from turntable to any receiver input NOT labelled PHONO, (CD would work) as long switch PHONO EQ to ON in the back, this amplifies the signal to line level. If you have an input on your receiver labeled PHONO, then you would select PHONO EQ to THRU, and that would use your receiver's phono pre-amp. You can compare the quality between the one build into the turntable vs. the one in your receiver. If you are wrong on the switch, the sound will either be way too soft, or really loud and distorted, quickly switch that Phono EQ to the other selection.

Q: Questiondoes the yamaha tts303 turntable have a 'ground wire' to attatch to a receiver? also... if attatching to a receivber do you use the 'phono eq' or 'thru' setting for the cables on the rear of the unit?..thanks

• A:Answer I'm curious in regards to the way this question was answered. On the back of the unit is a switch to allow selection of "phono eq" or "thru." That would indicate the presence of a pre-amp, and also allow direct connection to powered speakers. Is this correct? Thanks.
