“Do you have to leave this plugged in all the time or does it charge and you can unplug?”

Yes, plugged in all the time to powered via 110 AC (plug directly into a wall outlet). It does not contain a battery, thus no chargeable feature. It does work great and have a nice sound making use of Yamaha MUSICCAST, works nicely with Bluetooth and Airplay. It has a nice sound for this type product and it was fairly easily setup.

Either. Once the speaker is set up it is simple to unplug and move around from room to room. Needs to be plugged it to work - no battery.
