“I don't think mine is right. I bought this for my I pad mini. Just last night. I took it without the keyboard today and I am glad I had it in something because it fell out of the case. Is there something wrong with my case or is it not meant for the ipad mini?”

Mine has not fallen out, but it doesn't feel really tight. I probably wouldn't carry it without the keyboard. If you have a mini (not a 2 or 3), it is possible it could be a little loose because the original mini is just slightly smaller.
