• Yes, you can separate the screen and keyboard. I think it's pretty easy to take apart and put together. It also looks like the car will not wear out from doing that repeatedly due to the design of the case.

• the pad does attach and detach from the keyboard with magnets. i would recommend putting a glass or otherwise screen cover on the ipad. it doesnt cover the screen like an otterbox.
