I love this case. I had never purchased a keyboard case before, but I decided that I wanted to get one for my new iPad Air 2 because I wanted to be able to take it with me so I could type thus allowing me to stop taking my laptop everywhere. This case exceeded my expectations. My previous case was an Otter Box for my iPad 3rd Gen. I like this one much more than my old one. Not only is it rugged, but it has the Blue Tooth keyboard, and the back detaches really simply, so when I don't want to use the keyboard, I just pull the iPad away. It uses powerful magnets to attach. One thing to be aware of though, while this is a rugged case, it doesn't include a screen protector, but that was ok with me because I had wanted to get a glass screen protector because I've never really liked the plastic screen protectors that come with some rugged cases. BL: If your looking for a rugged case that will provide great protection along with a backlit blue tooth keyboard, this is probably your best option.

It turned my iPad into a mini-laptop. Only thing missing is a mouse, I have to navigate with the touch screen. I like it a lot. The keypad battery lasts a long time (many hours before recharge). Of course I can detach the screen from the keypad since it connects with Bluetooth.

This the second one of these I have had, the reason being as I dropped my Air Pad and the case broke , but the Pad was not damaged at all. I would say there was no doubt that the case did exactly what it said it would do

This case is easily the best case I've had. While in "laptop" mode, the case can be a bit on the heavier side but the keyboard is durable and responsive. It can also be put into what I call viewing mode for ease of access while watching videos. If you don't want the keyboard at any given moment, it's easily detachable and the case for the iPad feels like a good case. I've dropped it and no damage has occurred, it is definitely a protective case. Now to the cons. There isn't that many but it is a bit heavier with the full case, keyboard and all. It also is a tad bit on the expensive side, but I bought this for a new iPad, so I was willing to pay for more. The only other problem is with the attachment system. The iPad case has two hole that the keyboard case inserts into. It seems a bit on the flimsier side but I haven't had any problems with it so far. All in all this is a great product that I would recommend for those on the go, looking to protect their devices and get the job done.

Rugged Book Air 2 - Excellent

I have used the Rugged Ipad Air version for business and personal use for over a year waiting for the Air 2 release. Thinking this case would never be released, I researched, tried out and returned the Zagg Slim Book (looks nice, but not for me) and the New Trent Airbender (priced right under $40 but not for power users). ClamCase is nice, but requires a headphone adapter with most headphones. Rugged Pros: ○Fits perfect, great protection and durability. Excellent grip as well vs smooth plastic or metal. ○Access holes give plenty of room for non Apple chargers and headphone connections. ○Keyboard functions well and battery life is great. Rugged Cons: ○Being "Rugged" does make it a little heavier/thicker than its competitors. ○Zagg removed keyboard dimming and color options. ○Price is a little steep so if your iPad does not leave home often it may not be worth the investment. Overall, great keyboard case. It is worth a look and Best Buy has a nice return policy if you are disappointed. Tip: hinge is magnetic and will hold (not secure) your pen.

Cracks are appearing where the screen connects to the keyboard. I have to very careful when opening it now. It is at a point where I just have to leave it open or the joint will completely fail. I am very disappointed as otherwise I have enjoyed this case and it has worked well. I have had this case for less than 2 years and am careful with all my electronics. What has happened to quality?

I bought this keyboard for my iPad Air 2 so that I could use it as a laptop replacement and that worked flawlessly. It is a bit bulky and a little heavy, but I gladly take those tradeoffs for the durability, function, and protection it provides. Typing is great. The flexibility of positions is great. The illuminated keyboard is great. I am a little hard on things, so I gladly trade a little bulk and weight, it is a "Rugged" keyboard!

This is the best case that I have had for my iPad with a keyboard. Very sturdy. I like the way that the keyboard is Bluetooth connected to my iPad. With only ONE charge to the keyboard, it will last 2 years. So far so good, no other keyboard charge done in past 3 months. It makes my iPad heavier and bulkier, but not too much. Well worth the slight inconvenience to keep my iPad safe and work with ease

    FULL CASE SPECS HERE

I just recieved this case, but I wanted to tell future consumers all the specs (even those NOT mentioned, for some odd reason). Keyboard: Lights up (white color), one brightness setting (on/off). Detaches. Viewing Positions: 3 different positions Thickness: NOTE! This case is 1 INCH THICK when closed. Covers buttons. LIGHTS: Press Fn key (bottom left) and the bottom right (right arrow) key to turn on/off lights. In terms of POSITIONS, there's 3 which I'll describe below: Position 3: Used just like a laptop (like photo). It rotates in this postion around 140 degrees. Position 2: After it's detached, you can place the ipad in facing the opposite way (away from keyboard) and it holds it up. Same rotating amount (can lay flat this way, keyboard held behind it, touching the back). Position 1: Can detach the ipad from keyboard. It appears to be a magnet/placed ridges to hold it in place system. Doesn't appear to be a lot of weaknesses in design. THICKNESS: I didn't realize just how thick it would be until after I read further down the reviews after buying it. Still, this case has everything I personally need. Because of the thickness, it does have some weight to it. WISHLIST? The only thing I wish I could change was that it'd be lighter, and that I could view the screen in portrait mode with the keyboard still in use, rather than just landscape mode. The thickness on the buttons (covering power button and volume controls) are a bit much...I have an hard time sometimes with volume since I have a gentle touch, and I really struggle to take screen shots since the power button is SO stiff with the case on. I wouldn't have minded if there were instructions on how to turn on the lights, or some of the button uses.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good: it is one of a kind with a backlit keyboard. It is also quite rugged. The Bad: it seems to be heavier than just about any notebook/laptop out on the market currently by the time you slide you ipad into the case. Also, the ipad that essential creates a screen for a notebook falls off sometimes when you open the case. The Ugly: the ruggedness of the case does not come without cost to the aesthetics of the case design. It would look great if you work in construction or outdoors, but not so great if you simply want it to have around the office.

Zagg Keyboard Case for IPad is the BEST!

I've had several other keyboard cases for my IPad, but after 6 months broke apart. When this Zagg case says "rugged",it is true ! It does make it heavier, but i knew that when i bought it. My iPad is very safe and will not be harmed if it is dropped !! Important !! The keyboard is complete and easy to use once it has been charged, it says it will last 2 years. I've had it 3 months and it always works and it connected. Of course, i have to charge my IPad every night, i use it a lot !!

I purchased one of these and hated it. The hinge was SO STIFF that every time you opened the case, the iPad disconnected from the keyboard and sometimes dropped. It is rugged though. The rubber on the outside keeps it from hitting the screen or edges. I returned this one and got a different one and it's been amazing. The hinge action is softer and opens without issue. It's a great case after trying a few. It's a little bulky, but I don't mind if it saves me from replacing an iPad.

This is a nice solid case and the keyboard works well. I would rate the case one step below an Otterbox as this case has no integrated screen protection, if not stored with the keyboard all the time. I like having the keyboard to type when doing a lot of typing, but don't like keeping the case together with the keyboard the rest of the time do to the weight. This leaves the screen unprotected. I will need to purchase a separate screen protector in addition to this case to cover all bases, which is a bit annoying for a case that costs this much.

Bought this for an associate at work. He asked for something that would keep his clumsy self from breaking his iPad, and allow him to type. This is like a cross between an Otter Box and a portable keyboard. For my own iPad, I have the regular Folio. Wish I'd known about this one before. You can take the iPad off the keyboard without removing it from the case, and the magnets holding it in place are strong. It's sturdy, the keys have great action. It's the perfect Zagg.

A little heavy, but really good quality. Makes word processing and emailing on the iPad a better experience. I like how you can flip the screen around or detach it from the keyboard to make it thinner but still have a great protection layer on it.

This Zagg case/keyboard combo is very versatile. I feel comfortable enough to let my 7yr old use my iPad with this case. I love the fact that the Zagg case is rugged and has some good weight to it. It's not an "ultra-thin" case that doesn't provide any protection at all. But at the same time it'll make your iPad Air2 look like a MacBook! It's cool! This is the case you want to get if your looking to protect your iPad and also want the convenience of a keyboard. The backlit keys feel good when your typing, like a true MacBook. You can configure the Zagg case into 4 different positions. If there's a down side to this product it's the fact that it takes the Bluetooth keyboard about 2-3 seconds to connect to the iPad once you've opened the case. Other than that, I love it!!! I've had people tell me that they didn't know Apple came out with a smaller MacBook. They're surprise to find out it's an iPad in a really cool Zagg case!

Bulky and a bit creaky when opening, but the product meets my need for making my iPad more usable for taking notes in meetings, watching movies, and reading magazines (when the device is used in its three different positions). Keypad is excellent. Recommended.
