“Should I buy a dual - band router instead of this model? I'm not sure if my home network will require having a dual band router or not. I currently have my home security system, home DVR and sling box attached to a Netgear dual-band router. The router I just purchased "Zoom - N300 wireless router" is not a dual band router. Do I need to return this router and purchase a dual-band router or not?”

A dual band router theoretically will allow faster speeds, by letting you setup some devices to use one band and others to use the second band. In reality, there's not not much improvement. This device should work fine, because most folks don't understand that you have to configure the two bands in the first place and use them both.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'd return it. I recently purchased the Linksys WRT1900AC and have 14 wireless connections as well as a Swann DVR9-4200 security system. The connection to the security is 10 times better than what I had. The 1900 is dual band as well as 2.4 GHz and 5GHz.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I feel if you are going to run your security system on it you probably need a little more than this. It bumps too much. I use a hard line on my streaming so that it doesn't get interrupted.
