5-Star product but only gets 4 stars....but gets 5
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. So I wanted to give this product a 4 but it wouldn't be fair to the product because it actually does sound good. I made a video review on this microphone here...https://youtu.be/dkR4_8QKHJk To give a brief review using my words, this microphone sounds good and is an easy plug and play product. It is quite small In size so concealing it under clothing is easy. Other then it's very short 4'2" cable length, I couldn't figure any other bads about this microphone. It is pretty sensitive to picking up ambient sounds depending on the DB levels. Of all the microphones whether wireless or shotgun styled, I almost never find myself using this Lav mic. My ratings are strictly based off the microphone's performance which is rather excellent. Rode never said this microphone came with a long cable, they never advertised it as the best lav mic on the market or anything false. In my personal opinion, I would say this microphone is best used for settings where the ambient noise is below 78db. It works fine in noisier environments, just be ready to hear the backround noise in your output when playing back the audio. I want to be clear that this lav microphone is a "close range" microphone. What that means is whatever you want to connect this to needs to be within an arm's reach. I've used this for vlogging with my GoPro having it directly connected and with a 22" selfie stick fully extended, I've reached the cord's max length "when concealing the cable inside my shirt". This lav microphone works very very well with my Rode wireless Go incase you guys were wondering. It allows more flexibility with microphone placement of you don't want to use the Wireless go's transmitter itself which I have a video on that microphone as well. - yes you can use this with a personal recording device (as long as it has a 3.5mm input jack for you to connect this in) - yes you can use it for your DSLR or point and shoot camera (also as long as it has a 3.5mm input jack) - I use this with my Samsung note 10+ using the "Voice recorder app" and with my GoPro Hero8 inside the media mod. A special adaptor is needed to use this with your modern samsung and apple phones that no longer have a 3.5mm input jack. - I am not sure if you could use this with a laptop as a dedicated microphone for web chatting or anything relative but if your device has a didicated microphone input, I'm sure you could. You guys could always reach me on Snapchat, Gmail or on my YouTube channel @ Jonasegway. I like to do random test with equipment of all sorts with as many different scenarios as possible, grabbing as much information as possible so hopefully I am able to answer your questions or concerns you may have on this product. Enjoy your day and hopefully you'll find good use of this mic.

Great addition to Wireless Go
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.A great microphone for the price and a really nice addition to the Rode Wireless Go system. You might notice a difference in tone if mixing with more expensive cardios or shotgun mics, but that shouldn’t be surprising from a small omnidirectional mic.

RODE delivers (again)
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.WOW...made the upgrade from using a shotgun mic (also by RODE) to using this lav GO mic (along with a RODE Wireless Go II + Canon 70D DSLR). This little mic is AMAZING! I got so used to doing more post-processing than I'd like to remove background noise with the shotgun mic. I have to do absolutely NONE with this lav mic. I couldn't be happier. Another win by RODE!

Q: QuestionHi. Will this work with a laptop, Chromebook, Macbook, etc.? Thank you.
Asked by Chromebook.
- A:Answer Yes, but you need to buy the adapter. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/rde-sc4-3-5mm-to-3-5mm-female-male-microphone-adapter-gray-black/6255420.p?skuId=6255420

Q: QuestionWhat is the microphones cable length? The description of the unit does not say.
Asked by Robert.
- A:Answer The Rode Microphone cord length is over 3.5 feet long. Around 45 1/2 inches to be exact not including microphone and the audio connector as part of the cord. However, if you measure end to end including microphone, cord, and connector it is exactly 4 feet in length. And to avoid confusion, the microphone and connector do not detach from the cable. What does detach is the wind screen and clip.

Q: QuestionWill this work with an Iphone 13 Pro Max? I know I'll need the adapter but just want to make sure it will work
Asked by Alex.
- A:Answer You can use the Lavalier GO with an iPhone, but be aware you will need two adapters. You will need an Apple Lightning to 3.5mm headphone adapter (to give a 3.5mm connection to match the microphone), and you will also need a RØDE SC4 adapter cable to convert the TRS output of the Lavalier GO to the TRRS format of the phone. If using chained adapters like this is unwieldy; there are two other options. The RØDE SmartLAV+ is a high-quality lavalier microphone that has a TRRS output, so although you still need the Lightning to 3.5mm adapter, you no longer need the SC4. Or an even better solution in terms of quality and flexibility is the RØDE AI-Micro. This is a versatile interface you can connect to your phone directly that will give you dual microphone inputs for any lavalier, as well as a high-quality headphone output.

Q: QuestionDoes this microphone include a on/off switch and is it battery powered like other Lavalier Microphones. The picture in the description doesn't show the cable length. Will this work with the RODE Wireless Go wireless microphone system?
Asked by Robert.
- A:Answer This microphone does not have an On/Off switch. There isn't a way to place batteries inside it. However, this microphone does require power for it to work by receiving power from the device it is connected to. Like all microphones you must know how much power it desires because many powered devices have different volt setting that regulate how many volts you can send in order for it to be powered. Too many volts can easily destroy the microphone. This microphone requires very little power to perform. This microphone requires what is called “Plugin Power” and not necessarily Phantom Power which are two separate things. Phantom Power could be 12V, 24V, or 48V. Either of those voltages would be more than enough to kill this microphone. If you are planning to use an XLR adapter with this microphone you will need to purchase a Rode VXLR + if the device’s microphone input power is 12 Volts or higher! The adapter must be the + version and not the Rode VXLR without the “+”. The VXLR + will help drop down 12 voltage to a lower voltage suitable for this microphone. In a nutshell, look up the device you plan to connect this mic to and see what its microphone input voltage settings are. Without protection, 12 Volts will kill this microphone. This is an awesome microphone but in inexperienced hands you will never make one recording with it if you over power it the first time you plug it in. This is true with all microphones not just this one.
