Didn't quite work

I needed a cable for the Honda link in my new car. The cable was too long so I kept it wound up. I tried it with the link and it didn't work. I took the car to the dealership and they said that only original phone manufacturer cables work. I changed to use my original charger cable with the car and am using this cable to only charge at home
