This system is good when it works and I like Sony products but it seems Sony is going down hill. The sound system constantly looses audio when watching something and we have to turn it off and back on for it to start working again which is really irritating when you have to do that during a movie and you miss some of the dialog due to the system loosing audio and if you connect a Bluetooth device to the sound system sometime it will switch the tv and sound to that BT device while I am watching TV

Typical Sony JUNK

Absolute junk. Subwoofer failed after 15 months which makes the sound bar completely useless as it relies on the subwoofer for all midrange and bass. Called Sony and they basically told me they’re not interested. So now I have $1000.00 piece of junk. I paid $129 for a VIZIO sound bar that actually sounds better and it’s at least 5 years old. I hadn’t bought anything Sony in almost 20 years... thought things might have gotten better but clearly nothing has changed. Waiting for the $1500 Sony TV to fail as well. Sony clearly has much to learn about quality and customer service. They asked me if I purchased an extended warranty... what a joke! Buy a warranty for $150.00 for another year of coverage just adds insult to injury. I would caution you to look at reviews from people that have had the product more than a few months. Better yet, don’t buy Sony.

Hi Amal,
We appreciate you like the sound quality of our HTZ9F. We're sorry to hear you're having an audio issue when watching a movie or TV show. There are some things we’d like for you to try and see if we can resolve your audio cut off.
First, verify the HDMI cables you are using are rated for high speed and are at least 18 Gbps cables. Try replacing them if you have not. Next, ensure CEC control is enabled on the soundbar and your TV. You’ll need to refer to the manual of your TV, and for the soundbar, it’s on page 64. We’re not sure which brand of TV you have your soundbar connected, however, please ensure both are on the latest firmware.

Hi there,
Thank you for your review.
It is unfortunate to hear you are encountering an audio issue with your Z9F Dolby Atmos soundbar. This is usually not the case and definitely not the experience we wanted you to have on our premium soundbar.
Can you let us know what model/brand of TV you have the soundbar connected to? Also, does this issue happen on any sources? In the meantime, you may try following the steps below isolate the problem:
Some of this issue happened if the soundbar is not setup correctly. The HT-Z9F features customizable speaker settings where you can set the speaker distance from 0 ft to 33 ft for much richer sound quality. You can raise the level of the soundbar and subwoofer an additional 6 dB in the user interface menu. This will allow you to fully experience the rumbling lows during explosions of a movie, and the clarity of the string instruments during an orchestral performance. To round out your listening experience, we recommend adding the SAZ9R wireless rear speakers.
For reference on how to adjust the levels of the soundbar and listening distance, please use the link below: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4727/d3668cdaf4f83107b52ee9bdb84fa5a0/47275331M.pdf (Pg.59)
And as a general recommendation, to get the most out of your HT-Z9F, please ensure that its running on the latest firmware version. The software includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements. Wanted to love this Bar ....but!

I was really wanting to love this soundbar but it's unreliability keeps me from doing this. I purchased this bar with the 2 wireless rear speakers a little over a year ago. From the start, sound from the wireless sub-woofer goes in and out. There is no rhyme or reason to the frequency. Since the sub sits less than two feet from the bar, there shouldn't be an issue. I have replaced HDMI cables, ensured nothing was interfering in the area, reset the system several times, changed the RF settings, etc. Sony customer service has not been helpful and offer no solutions. For an investment of over $900, it should work flawlessly. I would encourage anyone looking at this set-up to pass and go with a wired solution.

Wireless issues frustrating

The wireless subwoofer, which comes with the soundbar cuts out, and you randomly lose audio. The compatible wireless surround speakers, which are on display in the store with the soundbar, also randomly lose connectivity. Of course, when a geek squad rep was out here to look at it, I couldn't replicate the issue. But for $99, I feel like he should have done something other than pick up the remote and unplug a cord. I'm not the first person to have this issue with this setup. Maybe look at the inner workings of the soundbar, subwoofer, and surround. Bring common replacement parts for known common issues. It's gotten to the point where I've had almost no subwoofer or surround for a whole night, no matter what source I'm watching/streaming from. Then it's fine for 2 days, UGH !!! It's infuriating. This was supposed to be an "open box, excellent condition product" But I get the impression that title carries no real stress test of the product before that label is slapped on a product for resale. In my past experience, an open box product has worked the same, if not better than new because someone actually thoroughly looked at it. I now feel like that's not true anymore.
